EXECUTIVE BOARD

If you are a full-time resident of Valley Glen, you are eligible to become a member of the executive board. The VGNA executive board is made up of five elected positions — president, vice president, secretary and treasurer — and two appointed positions — communications director and newsletter editor.

The executive board is elected annually. Nominations are in December and elections are in February. In the event of a vacancy, the executive board and president fill the position by appointment until the next election.

EXECUTIVE OFFICERS:

President; Bruce Gaims — Presides over board and general membership meetings; develops meeting agendas; coordinates key speakers; identifies annual goals; oversees membership development, officer and grid rep recruitment; serves as liaison with local elected officials and city agencies; oversees fundraising and management of annual budget. Designates VGNA representatives to other community organizations concerned with Valley Glen interests.

Vice President; Richard Rossi  — Performs the duties of the president in their absence, and assumes the president's duties in the event that the president no longer is able to serve. The vice president chairs committee(s) as designated by the president.

Secretary; Angela Rossi — Keeps minutes of all executive board and general membership meetings including date, time, location, attendance; records of any decisions, motions, votes or task assignments; keeps brief notes of any key discussions and any new dates set for meetings or event; attaches copies of any reports presented.

Grid Captain: Angela Consolo - Rossi —  Supervises and oversees of activities of the VGNA grid reps; serves as the conduit between the board and grid reps; maintains a current grid rep roster; coordinates grid reps for meeting flyer and quarterly newsletter distribution and volunteer assignments for VGNA events. Coordinates an annual grid rep orientation and provides a VGNA orientation kit and training for each rep.

Treasurer; Gerhard Runken — Maintains ledger of the association’s financial accounts including donations, expenses and income; submits a written report at each executive board and general membership meeting and an annual categorized income and expenses report; prepares VGNA event budgets and final reports; issues invoices and collects payments from VGNA advertisers; files required state and federal returns; and pays approved invoices.

Director of Communications; Richard Rossi — Keeps track of the association’s communications; maintains and updates the website; designs and produces the association's quarterly newsletter "The Valley Glen Voice”- the official publication of the Valley Glen Neighborhood Association. Distributes e-mail communications and maintains organization’s email database; maintains graphic identity standards.

AREA AND GRID REPRESENTATIVES AND ALTERNATES:

Area and Grid Representatives (aka Grid Reps) and Alternates will represent the interests of the area and grid in which they reside.  Duties include attending Board and general meetings as representatives of their respective areas and serving as liaisons with Association members. No more than two representatives and two alternates will be elected from each of the following areas and grids:

Area A – Bounded by Victory on the north, Fulton on the West, Oxnard on the south, and Coldwater on the east.

EXECUTIVE BOARD APPOINTMENTS:

The Executive Board is charged with conducting the business of the Valley Glen Neighborhood Association and to undertake all actions appropriate to affecting the goals and purposes of the Association. As such the Executive Board created the following positions and made appointments presently consisting of:

Editor-in-Chief of the Valley Glen Voice; Bruce Gaims. The Valley Glen Voice is the official publication of the Valley Glen Neighborhood Association and is published quarterly.  Circulation tops 5,000 and the Grid Reps hand deliver each issue to every home in Valley Glen, apartment complexes that allow delivery and business establishments.

Grid Rep Captain; Angela Rossi — recruits and trains new Grid Representatives (aka Grid Reps) for the Association. The Grid Rep Captain coordinates delivery of The Valley Glen Voice and meeting/event flyers (and other such print media as directed by the President) to Grid Reps. Also the Grid Rep Captain manages execution of timely delivery of all print media. Being a Grid Rep is a vital element to the VGNA’s grassroots outreach effort.

Special Events Publicity & Marketing; Janet Newton — manages the publicity and marketing of VGNA’s special events. Special events presently include the annual Valley Glen Festival, Yard Sale and Holiday Party.

PRESIDENTIAL APPOINTMENTS:

In accordance with the duties of the office, the President appoints representatives for the Association to other community organizations that are concerned with Valley Glen interests. These appointments presently consist of:

Community Organization Representative to the Greater Valley Glen Council (GVGC); Vacant. The GVGC is the City-certified neighborhood council that covers Valley Glen, parts of North Hollywood and the 91607 zip code area (Valley Village Post Office) of North Hollywood. GVGC serves as an official advisory panel to the City Council District Two (2) currently occupied by Councilmember Paul Krekorian. Per its By Laws, GVGC’s mission as a neighborhood council is to enhance the economic vitality and quality of life of the community, to preserve and enhance its character and prevent its deterioration.
